YBA Churches Cooperating in Children's Ministry in Rock Hill, S.C.

Excited to learn about Christ
Midtown Ministries is now exclusively for the kids.

Having been forced to move several times over ths past six months, Midtown Ministries began March 2011 by narrowing its focus to children and youth from the 1st through 12th grades. Midtown ministries is a cooperative effort of the churches in the York Baptist Association in Rock Hill, S.C.

Begun by the Catawba Baptist Church, it has ministered to the children of Midtown Apartments for nearly 13 years. In the fall of 2010, the ministry was forced to move and the Kids for Jesus bus ministry began to transport children to the meeting place. The ministry grew rapidly and needed a larger facility when the Eastside Baptist church offered the use of their gymnasium, classrooms and kitchen.

As the churches in the York Association recognized that these children had many needs, several other
churches and independent volunteers joined the effort, teaching the Bible, leading music, cooking meals, monitoring playtime, keeping order on the buses and, more importantly, demonstrating the love of Christ.

Ronnie Aiten, Pastor of Kids for Jesus and children's pastor at Temple Baptist Church  in Rock Hill works full time looking for ways to bring children to church. His bus ministry is responsible for 90% of the attendance, and no one loves the children more than Mr. Ronnie. His wild wigs are becoming famous and always manage to entertain the children and adults.

Chase Catledge Brings Midtown to Eastside

"When I heard you speak about this ministry at the pastor's luncheon, I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of it," Chase explained to Dave Roth, Pastor of Midtown. Chase went to work and brought our need for space to the deacon board at Eastside Baptist and, within a few weeks, had received permission for Midtown to use the church's facility.

Chase is the Youth Pastor at Eastside and is just as excited about our new relationship as the rest of us are. He has graciously allowed our youth to use his youth room at the church along with all of the other facilities.

You or your church can be involved in reaching these children for Jesus Christ!

At the right is a map to Eastside Baptist Church where we meet each Thursday evening at 6:30 PM. We are growing rapidly and are always in need of more Christian adults to organize their church to provide meals for the children,  to come teach a class, serve tables, lead with the games, or spend time with a child or youth who needs someone to talk to.

Many of the kids to whom we minister come from single parent homes and live in severe poverty. There is always a need to be filled and not enough resources.
